We're so excited to welcome back Stephanie Gainer for her third annual Dolloween workshop in this space! Stephanie is an incredible local artist and "Creepy Doll Lady" who specializes in weird and wonderful assemblage sculptures. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from her, have a blast, and create your own creepy doll sculpture to take home!

The POPsibilities are endless with craft sticks! Examples range from garden gates, photo frames, wall hangings, and more! Come glue, paint, assemble and decorate a variety of crafts made out of popsicle sticks in this fun and low-key workshop.

Make the trend: Upcycle empty tins into personalized wallets- perfect for carrying around your change, hair ties, and trinkets. Using glue, paper, stickers, ribbon and rhinestones we will transform trash into treasure. This workshop is perfect for middle and high schoolers, but all ages are welcome!

What do Easter and Halloween have in common? Candy! Why use Easter eggs only once a year when they're just as good at holding treats on October 31st? With a little decoration, they can become pumpkins and and monsters, and little (not scary!) surprise holders! Decorate some eggs, then fill them with sweet treats & prizes! This is a fun option for kids & adults. All supplies included.

Celebrate Spooky Season by creating your own silly skeleton buddy! In this workshop, we’ll build them out of upcycled wine corks and wire, and paint and pose them however you like. These silly skeletons can be reused every year as part of your Halloween décor (or if you're like us, they'll stay up all year).

Make your own stained glass mosaic coasters! This is a fundamental class introducing the art of mosaic creation. Students will learn some basic glass cutting, mosaic techniques and grouting. This class will give students a starting point with which to begin a mosaic creating journey. Students will be taught the basics of mosaics and given some suggestions of how to grow in this craft.

This workshop presents you with a challenge: what can you make out of our pile of wooden shapes? We have lots of miscellaneous wood pieces, big & small, that have lots of potential as your future home & holiday decor! You’ll pick whichever piece(s) call to you and give them a little pizazz: decoupage, glitter-fy, wrap with ribbon, mix the mediums, and more! We'll have some ideas to get you started, but we dare you to create something we would never have thought of.

It’s time for our semiannual scrap sale! You know the drill- all fabrics under a yard are considered scraps and all scraps will be $1 a pound!

Then he said “Grool.” In honor of the OG junk journal- join us for a Burn Book themed junk journal night. Bring your journal and any relevant junk, or use our journals and supplies. Either way it's gonna be so fetch!

From molds and deckles to pigments and dyes, ‘Get Pulped’ explores the magical world of hand papermaking. During this 3 hour class, you will learn about molds and deckles, making your own pulp from recycled waste and plant fibers, sheet forming, and pulp painting. The class will explore the wonders of creating decorative paper through the use of pigments, natural dyes, flowers, and thread. The possibilities with paper are unlimited, and this workshop focuses on creating sheets that bring images to life. Papermaking is a sustainable practice that invites us to slow down and enjoy the ambience of the craft. This class is designed for all levels. Feel free to bring old receipts/scraps of paper, flowers, dead leaves, or a disposable small object to add to your exploration of paper!  

Get in the fall mood with our October Pay-What-You-Want event: Eco Crafts! What are eco-crafts? they are sculptures, decorations, weavings, or really any craft that uses natural and recycled materials. Eco-crafts ask us to use our imagination and connect with nature through creativity. We will have a buffet of natural and recycled craft materials for you to explore at your own pace. We can’t wait to see what you make!

Join Play More Charlotte to make your own trinket fascinator! Fascinators are essentially tiny hats that clip into your hair. They were super popular in the 1920s, and we're bringing them back in 2026 with an upcycled twist! We'll be using old Happy Meal toys, a wild assortment of cabochons, and upcycled materials to make our fascinators! You're guaranteed to leave with something unique!

This will be an introduction to crochet, no experience needed. Attendees will learn how to make a slip knot, chain stitch, single crochet, and half double crochet. This will give you a good foundation to start your first crochet project!

Maybe you have a sewing machine collecting dust on your table, or maybe you've been thinking about buying one from Upcycle Arts but you don't want to take the leap without having some foundational skills. In any case, let us demystify the mechanics for you with this class on sewing machine basics. In this class, Sarah will teach you how to set up, operate, and troubleshoot a sewing machine. If you have a sewing machine we recommend you bring it- if not, we will provide one!

Sorry camera roll, physical photographs are far superior. Make them even MORE superior by embroidering directly onto them! With embroidery, you can add personality, funny graphics, emphasize a beautiful landscape or even hide an ugly one. In this workshop, bring your own photograph to plan a pattern and learn the basics of embroidering on your precious memories! Don't worry, we will have photo paper and donated photos to practice on before you start working on your masterpiece.

We’re bringing you this cozy craft to celebrate the approach of fall! These wall hangings are deceptively simple to make and beautiful to display on your wall. As a secondhand craft store, we end up with a TON of scraps of fancy yarn, trims, and ribbon that aren’t quite enough for a project on their own, but when strung together on a stick or dowel they can create a rich variety of textures and colors. Stop by any time on Sunday September 13th to make your own wall hanging!

This workshop will cover three different methods to make plarn - plastic yarn, a strong and versatile material made from shopping bags. Plarn can be used for crochet, macrame, or anything you'd need a little twine for. Have an overflowing collection of shopping bags? Bring 5-10 bags from home and make some plarn with us, then go home with a new skill and a new way to finally reuse that plastic.
