The First-Timer's Market Program is a free, grant-funded opportunity designed for local artists and makers who want to begin selling their work, expand their skills and sales, or practice the art of mentorship.
Upcycle Arts is launching its inaugural First Timers’ Market, a transformative program designed to empower brand-new artists and creative hobbyists as they take their first steps into entrepreneurship. This initiative will nurture individuals who have never sold their work before, pairing hands-on business education with real-world application. Participants will gain essential small-business skills —tailored specifically for artists—that they will immediately put into practice at the First Timers’ Market.
-
“First-timers” - You are an artist/maker who wants to begin selling your work or grow into the market scene. You don’t need a business, a finished product line, or any sales experience. If you make something and you’re ready to learn, this opportunity is for you. Still not sure? Apply anyway.
“Market Mentors” - You are an artist/maker who has experience selling at markets, but you still want to level up your business. You are reliable and responsive, you enjoy sharing tips and hard-won lessons, and you’re comfortable giving honest, friendly feedback. You will not be expected to formally teach your mentees.
